5 SIGNS YOU'RE OVERDUE FOR A FRESH FADE
Marcus Bell · Jan 8, 2026

A fresh fade has a shelf life. The first week it looks effortless. By week three, it's asking for attention. Here are five signs it's time to book your next visit.
1. The Blend Has Disappeared
The smooth gradient from skin to length is what makes a fade a fade. When the transition starts looking like a single block of hair, the detail work your barber put in is gone — and no amount of product brings it back.
2. Your Neckline Has Gone Rogue
The hairline at the back of your neck grows fast and grows unevenly. If your collar is doing more grooming than your barber, you're overdue.
3. It Takes Longer To Style
A sharp cut styles itself in seconds. When you're spending extra time in the mirror trying to make it sit right, the shape has grown out from under you.
4. The Edges Have Softened
Crisp lines around the temples and ears are the first thing people notice — and the first thing to fade. Blurry edges make even a good cut look tired.
Simple test: when the cut is fresh, people mention it. When they stop, it's not because they stopped looking.
The Fix
For most fades, two to three weeks is the sweet spot between visits. Book before it grows out and you'll never have an off week.
